Mercedes-AMG may be preparing something more serious for its GT 4-Door lineup. A new spy shot shows a test car that looks almost identical to the model already on sale, but there is one obvious difference: a fixed rear wing.
The wing is finished in a black and white camouflage and does not span the full width of the car, but its size appears well matched to the GT 4-Door’s proportions. Unlike the movable spoiler used on the available model, this setup looks permanently fixed, suggesting that Mercedes-AMG could be testing a more performance-focused version.
There is already plenty of performance to work with. The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door is based on AMG.EA architecture and uses a 106 kWh battery powering three axial-flux motors, with one at the front and two at the rear.
The GT 55 produces 805 hp and 1,328 lb-ft of torque, allowing 0-60 mph in 2.4 seconds. The GT 63 takes things further with 1,153 hp and 1,475 lb-ft, cutting the sprint to just 2 seconds.
Both versions are limited to 186 mph and even feature a simulated V8 soundtrack. With numbers like these, a track-focused derivative could be seriously quick.
