BMW Alpina has released a new video of its upcoming V8-powered flagship sedan undergoing high-speed testing at Italy’s Nardò Technical Centre.
Still covered in camouflage, the luxury four-door, based on the facelifted 7 Series, was pushed beyond 300 km/h (186 mph) on the facility’s 7.8-mile circular track.
BMW has confirmed a V8 for the first production model but is keeping the final performance figures under wraps. Interestingly, the prototype’s windscreen display briefly showed 439 kW and 784 Nm, equivalent to around 589 hp and 578 lb-ft. These figures are not yet confirmed for the production car.
The focus, however, is not just outright speed. Alpina has revised the engine management, throttle mapping and transmission calibration, while the suspension has been tuned to balance high-speed stability with ride comfort.

The prototype also wears 20-inch multi-spoke wheels with specially developed Pirelli P Zero tyres, along with four oval exhaust outlets. Its final output and top speed remain undisclosed.
