The Bugatti Tourbillon is in the final stages of its development. Engineers are currently busy tweaking and calibrating it before it goes into production later this year. The first pre-production prototype with the final bodywork and interior is now ready. It was recently spotted at the test track inside Molsheim HQ.

Unlike all the Tourbillon test mules we’ve seen so far, this looks almost like a customer car that has just rolled off the assembly line. However, that’s not the case, as there are still a few months before series production begins.

Until now, the Tourbillon has been put through several gruelling tests. The hypercar has been to the Middle East, where it faced sweltering heat. It has also been evaluated in the freezing temperatures of the Arctic. In the meantime, Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac has also been putting on some miles on validation prototypes around Europe.

The biggest highlight of Bugatti’s new hypercar is its rather unique engine. It’s an 8.3-liter V16 naturally aspirated unit, which is paired with three electric motors for a combined output of 1800 hp.
