Chinese brand Zeekr is reportedly preparing to enter the luxury off-road SUV segment. Reports suggest that the company is studying a rugged new model aimed at the Mercedes G-Class.
As of now, the project is still at an early feasibility stage and has yet to receive formal approval, but it is said that the Chinese Mercedes G-Class rival would enter production in 2028 or 2029.

Unlike traditional off-roaders that use a body-on-frame chassis, Zeekr’s off-road SUV is expected to feature a unibody or semi-integral structure. Its technology could include independently controlled electric motors, long-travel air suspension and software-based vehicle recovery functions, reducing the need for conventional mechanical off-road hardware.
The powertrain remains unconfirmed, although Zeekr’s existing 900V plug-in hybrid systems could provide a starting point. The 8X, for instance, produces up to 1,030 kW / 1,381 hp in its highest-output version. A plug-in hybrid setup could also be offered.
