Totaled! Mercedes-AMG One hypercar burns to the ground
Earlier today, a Mercedes-AMG One hypercar was completely destroyed after it caught fire. Videos showing the car engulfed in flames have surfaced on social media, but there isn’t much information out there at this time.
Videos posted by @chrimbu on Instagram show firefighters trying to put out the fire, which already appears to have burnt through the rear section of the car. The second video shows the aftermath, where the AMG One has been reduced to a pile of burnt metal and carbon fibre.
As I said at the outset, little is known about this accident. Mercedes-Benz will most likely be investigating it thoroughly, and only then will we get to know the exact cause of the fire.
The AMG One was designed as a Formula 1 car for the street. It is powered by the same 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine. The IC engine is paired with two electric motors for a combined output of 1063 hp. Mercedes claims the AMG One will do 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds and 0-124 mph in 7 seconds.
This particular chassis was finished in Emerald Green Metallic and had a beige leather interior.
