According to a fresh report, the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro may adopt a four-door layout, a major departure from its current body style. Apart from that, it would also come with an option of a manual transmission, alongside an automatic.

Underneath, the new model is expected to ride on GM’s updated Alpha 2 platform. This architecture has already proven itself in cars like the Cadillac CT4 and CT5, suggesting the Camaro will retain its rear-wheel-drive configuration.

Powertrain details remain under wraps, but there are strong hints. A turbocharged four-cylinder could serve as the entry point, while a proper high-performance variant is all but confirmed. That likely means a V8—possibly derived from the same unit that is found in the Chevrolet Corvette.

If it all comes together, the Camaro will face off against rivals like the Ford Mustang and Dodge Charger. Who wouldn’t want to have a four-door, V8-powered muscle car with a manual gearbox?
