The reveal of Ferrari Luce has stirred more than just curiosity. It’s sparked debate. It is facing a huge amount of backlash from all angles. Amidst this chaos, Lamborghini CEO has commented on its own EV strategy.
Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann has made it clear that stepping away from a full-EV future was the right call for the brand. While he avoided directly criticising Ferrari, the timing says plenty.

Lamborghini had been working on an all-electric model, widely expected to take shape through the Lanzador concept, alongside an EV version of the Urus. Both have now been shelved. Instead, the focus has shifted firmly to plug-in hybrids, which Winkelmann believes better aligns with customer expectations.

“Our move from internal combustion to plug-in hybrid was crucial,” he explained, emphasising that innovation must feel natural, not forced.
According to Winkelmann, Lamborghini’s clientele simply isn’t embracing full electrification at the pace the industry anticipated. That insight has driven the brand’s recalibration.
It’s not an isolated move either. Backed by Volkswagen Group, Lamborghini joins a growing list of car companies reassessing their EV timelines amid softer-than-expected demand.
