Ferrari is set to unveil a new track-only supercar next month. It will be showcased during Ferrari Racing Days at the Hungaroring, near Budapest, on September 13, 2026.

The new 296 GTB-based model was recently spotted testing at the Fiorano test track in Maranello. Rumours suggest that it might be called the 296 GT Modificata or 296 Challenge EVO.

The spy images captured during testing reveal a heavily modified version of the 296 GTB. It has a sculpted front bumper with a large splitter, with canards on either side and possibly an S-duct. It has louvres on the front fenders and massively flared rear wheel arches with big intakes.

The new track car comes with a unique spoiler. It has a wide aerofoil with a central pillar and has large endplates extending from the rear bodywork. Overall, it looks like a more extreme version of the 296 Challenge race car.

The 296 GT / Challenge EVO will be built in limited numbers reserved for Ferrari’s top clients. Ferrari is also working on a more hardcore version of the 296 for the road – the 296 Challenge Stradale.
