Porsche has effectively confirmed that Audi’s upcoming electric sports car will share its platform with the next-generation 718 Boxster and Cayman.
During Porsche’s third-quarter 2026 earnings call, CFO Jochen Breckner revealed that the company is providing its electric platform to Audi for an internal project known as “C-Sport”. Porsche will receive payment from Audi for the technology, with the first contribution expected in 2027.

“We are offering our electric platform for the 718 Boxster and Cayman, which is about to be launched next year for an Audi project. They call it C-Sport internally, and we will get cash from their side. That payment is expected to come in 2027.”
Sharing the underlying architecture makes sense for both brands, allowing them to spread development costs while still creating distinctly different cars. Audi can give its model its own styling, suspension setup, powertrain calibration and performance characteristics.

The production Audi is expected to follow the direction of the Concept C, which featured a rear-wheel-drive, single-motor layout. However, the platform can also accommodate a front motor for Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system.
Porsche is set to unveil its electric Boxster and Cayman next year, while Audi’s production version of the Concept C is scheduled to arrive in 2027.
