Porsche denies plans to discontinue the Taycan just yet

2 Min Read

Recent reports claimed Porsche was considering ending Taycan production by the end of the decade, while also potentially moving production from Stuttgart to Leipzig. However, the automaker has now clarified its position.

A Porsche spokesperson confirmed that the company is streamlining the Taycan range, but stressed that this does not mean the entire model line is being discontinued. The process has already begun in the US, where the Cross Turismo and Sport Turismo variants will disappear after the 2026 model year.

“Streamlining the model range does not necessarily mean discontinuing entire model lines. For the Taycan, we will continue to reduce the number of variants in order to lower complexity,” the spokesperson said.

That means Porsche is looking to simplify the electric model’s lineup rather than remove it altogether. The company also pointed to its significant investment in the Taycan and said it will continue monitoring demand.

“We currently have no plans to discontinue the Taycan in the short term. We have invested significantly in the model and will continue to monitor how demand develops.”

The clarification should put to rest, at least for now, speculation that Porsche is preparing to abandon its first dedicated electric sports car. The model may become available in fewer configurations, but the Taycan itself is staying.
