Recently, there were reports in the media about the Toyota GR GT being sold out in the United States. However, the company has now clarified that the “sold out” comment made by Senior VP of Toyota Motor North America, Andrew Gilleland, was misinterpreted.
A Toyota spokesperson has clarified that Gilleland was referring to the level of interest for the GR GT at The Quail and that the company has not presold any cars yet.

The GR GT is being positioned as Toyota’s next halo supercar. It’s an important model for the company, as some have even touted it as the successor to the legendary Lexus LFA.
The GR GT will be powered by a front-mounted 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine paired with a single electric motor. It produces 640 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque and is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
