Porsche 911 GT3 RS sets the 18th quickest time at Top Gear Track
The latest iteration of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS has a few lap records to its name. But, around the famous Top Gear test track, it could only manage an 18th-best time.
The new 911 GT3 RS has been lapping the Top Gear test track in the hands of The Stig. While the new model was obviously quicker than its predecessor, the GT3 RS lacked the power to compete with supercars higher up on the leaderboard.
The GT3 RS set a lap time of 1 min 14.8 seconds, which places it between the BAC Mono and the Ariel Atom V8. It was slower than the McLaren 675LT but was able to beat the 600LT, which posted a time of 1 min 15.1 seconds.
The 911 GT3 RS is powered by a 4.0-liter flat-six engine that develops 518 hp and 343 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, which sends power to the rear wheels.
Manthey Racing recently introduced an upgrade package for the GT3 RS. However, the upgraded aero and suspension is unlikely to make much of a difference given the layout of the Top Gear test track.
