New Chevrolet Corvette to debut on June 17; Could be the Zora
General Motors is all set to unveil a new Chevrolet Corvette on June 17. From what we understand, it is likely to be a new variant of the Corvette ZR1.
Chevrolet has been working on a high-performance version of the Corvette, dubbed the Zora. It is expected to be the flagship variant of the Corvette, positioned above the ZR1.
Now, the teaser put out by the company doesn’t reveal much. The video ends with an ‘X’ badge, which suggests that the new variant might be called ‘ZR1-X’ or something along similar lines.
The Corvette Zora is said to be a hybrid, featuring the same 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine from the ZR1. It produces 1064 hp, couple that with a 160 hp electric motor from the Corvette E-Ray, and we have a Corvette that could rival the likes of the Ferrari SF90 and Aston Martin Valhalla.
The Corvette Zora / ZR1-X might have the same extreme bodywork as the ZR1. That will include the extended splitter and large rear spoiler, generating at least 1200 kg of downforce. It should also get the latest interior package with the triple-screen layout.
