Mercedes-AMG to launch 27 new models to compete with BMW M

1 Min Read

Mercedes-AMG has had enough. After years of trailing BMW M in global performance car sales, the Affalterbach-based brand is preparing to close the gap. It is going all in, with plans to launch over 27 new models in the next three years. The target is clear – push annual sales to 200,000 units by 2030.

Right now, that gap is hard to ignore. Last year, Mercedes-AMG delivered around 145,000 cars. But BMW M is still comfortably ahead, crossing 213,000 units and marking yet another record year. AMG knows it needs more than incremental gains. It needs a full-scale push.

And that’s exactly what’s coming. The roadmap includes new six- and eight-cylinder models, the return of the GT Black Series, and even a G63 Convertible. There’s also an extreme CLE model under the Mythos line with a V8, alongside a more usable CLE 63 and a new C53. On the electric side, AMG is preparing an SUV based on the GT 4-Door platform.

Interestingly, AMG plans to cut its engine lineup from ten variants down to just four. Expect updated versions of the inline-six and a reworked V8, alongside a continued push into EVs.
