Mercedes-AMG is expanding its GT 4-Door Coupe range. It has introduced a new GT 53 model, which is a more accessible entry point into the brand’s high-performance electric lineup.
The key difference lies in the drivetrain. Unlike the flagship Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupe, the GT 53 runs with two electric motors instead of three, retaining all-wheel drive but reducing total output to 544 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. That naturally impacts outright pace, with the 0–62 mph sprint now taking 3.5 seconds—which is still pretty quick, just not as quick as the GT 63’s 2.4-second run.
Top speed is electronically limited to 143 mph as standard, or 155 mph with the optional AMG Driver’s Package. Again, slightly dialled back compared to its more extreme sibling.
Interestingly, the Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe do features artificial engine and gearbox characteristics, but swaps the GT 63’s V8-inspired feel for something closer to a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six.
Underneath, much remains unchanged. The car uses the same 800-volt architecture and 106 kWh battery, but with one less motor, efficiency improves. Range climbs to a claimed 503 miles—comfortably higher than the GT 63.
