McLaren’s open-top Speedster announced at Pebble Beach; Teaser out!

McLaren has officially announced a new Ultimate Series model at Pebble Beach. The as yet unnamed model is an open-top Speedster similar to the Ferrari Monza SP2.

According to McLaren, the new model will slot in between the Senna and Speedtail. It will be an “open cockpit roadster” with 2 seats and will feature low-profile dihedral doors. McLaren calls it the “ultimate road-legal track car”.

The new Speedster will be powered by a twin-turbocharged V8. This engine will be based on the Senna’s 4.0-liter V8. However, it is likely to receive a bump in performance. Therefore, we don’t expect it to be a hybrid like the Speedtail.

McLaren is building just 399 units of the new Speedster. Pricing is expected to be somewhere between £750,000 and £1.2 million.
