Lexus LFR spied testing alongside a Mercedes-AMG GT R in California
Lexus’ upcoming sports car has been spotted in the United States. Dubbed the Lexus LFR, the new coupe was seen testing along with a Mercedes-AMG GT R on the Angeles Crest Highway in California.
The Lexus LFR prototype was captured by automotive journalist @jonnylieberman. As you can clearly see in the video, the LFR is being benchmarked against the AMG GT R.
The LFR will feature a classic front-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration. It is expected to be offered in two variants: a touring version described as “docile” and a more track-focused “hardcore” version.
Powering the LFR will be a brand-new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 paired with a hybrid system. The internal combustion engine is said to produce around 720 hp, while the hybrid will provide another 180 hp.
The Lexus LFR is expected to go into production in Q3/Q4 of 2025. Prices are expected to start at €200,000 before options.
