Back in 2005, Maranello invited 30 of its top clients to purchase the Ferrari FXX track supercar. But there was a catch. You would get to drive the car around some of the greatest racetracks in the world, but it would remain in Ferrari’s possession.

RM Sotheby’s is now offering a unique opportunity to buy the actual Tipo F140 DA V12 engine. All you need to do is build a Ferrari FXX around it.

This 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine is based on the Enzo’s engine. The increased capacity has also improved the overall output from 651 hp @ 7800 rpm to 789 hp @ 8500 rpm. Peak torque is rated at 506 lb-ft. The engine is paired with a 6-speed F1 automated manual transmission, which is not part of the auction.
