Japan-Only Toyota 86 British Green Limited is a Feast for the Eyes

Is there anyone who doesn’t like the Toyota 86? The British Green Limited edition will change their minds. But you got to be in Japan to buy one.

The sad part of the story must be that the new Toyota 86 British Green Limited will be available only in Japan. Finished in the legendary British Racing Green shade and effectively complemented by those dark bronze 17-inch wheels, the special edition deserves a worldwide release. And for the equivalent of $30,000, it’s not a bad deal at all.

The biggest draw must be the venerated color scheme. The red brake calipers peeking through the dark bronze wheels add some more panache to the overall package. Not to mention that discreet and tasteful spoiler at the back. The special edition 86 gets a bunch of functional upgrades too in the form of Sachs dampers and underbody panels for better airflow.

Inside, it’s a black and tan, leather and Alcantara party. The seats are finished in two-tone and there are lots of contrast stitching all around. The steering wheel and gear shifter boot cover, for example, get tan stitching over the black material. The seat bolsters which are in tan, get black contrast stitching, on the other hand.

While we would’ve loved to see a bump in power and maybe a turbocharger, Toyota Japan kept the changes limited to a purely cosmetic level for the 86 British Green Limited. No tweaks or changes to the naturally-aspirated, boxer-four, 205 hp engine at all. Same applies to the two transmissions on offer – a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic – which direct power to the rear wheels.
