Lamborghini Urus: A Hardcore ST-X inspired Road Version is Coming!

If you loved the Lamborghini Urus ST-X Concept SUV built by the Lamborghini Motorsport division, Squadra Corse, then rejoice. The hardcore super-Urus will be inspired by the concept.

Last year, Lamborghini’s motorsport division – Squadra Corse – built a concept Urus called the ST-X. Primarily intended to spearhead a one-brand championship in 2020, the Urus ST-X was a proper racing version of the super-SUV. Complete with superior performance, a matte Verde Mantis livery, and FIA-approved safety elements, the competition machines will be raced on both road and off-road tracks in a single race. Oh, we’d love to see that!

Now we hear that Lambo is seriously considering a mightier and more powerful, hardcore version of the Urus to keep the SUV on the same plane as the Bentley Bentayga Speed and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid. When Digital Trends asked Maurizio Reggiani, head of Lamborghini R&D if the Urus ST-X SUV will spawn a super-Urus, his reply was “yes”. However, Reggiani didn’t share any details to help us draw up more conclusions.

While the road car will not need the whole FIA safety gear in place, the Urus “Performante” will be lighter with loads of carbon-fiber, stronger with some kind of additional torsional stiffening and be endowed with an active aero system. The styling will borrow heavily from the racing machine with a revised front and rear ends, new colors and a taller stance.

We’ll give the super-Urus another two years to make it to production and with the launch of the single-brand championship set in 2020, it’ll be the perfect time to unleash this hardcore road-going Urus to its clientele.
