Ferrari 296 Speciale Piloti unveiled ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Just as we had expected, the Ferrari 296 Speciale Piloti was revealed last evening in Le Mans, France, ahead of the annual 24-hour race. Unfortunately, the car doesn’t seem to be as exciting as we’d thought, or at least what the rumors had suggested.
The 296 Speciale Piloti will see a limited production run and will be rarer than the standard 296 Speciale. It features a special livery inspired by the Ferrari 499P Le Mans Hypercar. Customers will get to choose from 4 colours: Rosso Scuderia, Blu Tour de France, Nero Daytona and Argento Nurburgring.
Inside, you get black Alcantara racing seats with special accents, a carbon fiber plaque, customizable carbon fiber door sill plates, and customizable metal floor accents.
So, with the new Piloti, Ferrari has gone down the same route as the 488 Pista Piloti. Essentially, a limited-edition livery with no mechanical changes.
As you may be aware, the 296 Speciale is powered by an upgraded 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 plug-in hybrid that produces 867 hp. The car also gets a retuned suspension with stiffer and lighter titanium springs and Multimatic adjustable shock absorbers. It does 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 205 mph.
