Newly crowned F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton was in Germany to check out the progress on the Mercedes-AMG One hypercar.
Hamilton himself is involved in the development of the AMG One and will probably be the first person to own one. In the latest video, Hamilton can be seen interacting with the drivers and engineers working on the AMG One. He doesn’t get behind the wheel of the car, but he does seem excited to see it out on the test track.
In the beginning of the video, you can see the AMG One prototype driving around on electric power, making an unmistakable whining sound. Later, the turbo V6 is fired up. According to Lewis, that F1-derived engine sounds similar to his race car. The 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine and electric motor is expected to produce well over 1000 hp.
The car was unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. However the car been delayed and is unlikely to be ready before 2021.
