Mercedes-AMG is developing its next electric performance sedan. A heavily camouflaged E-Class prototype has been spotted testing near Nurburgring.

Despite the disguise, several production-ready details are visible. The car features a more aggressive front fascia, finalised-looking LED headlight and taillight designs, wider tracks and pronounced wheel arches. Lightweight AMG-specific aero wheels also hide large performance brake discs paired with multi-piston calipers.

Unlike Merc’s regular EVs, the electric Mercedes-AMG E-Class performance flagship will ride on AMG’s dedicated AMG.EA architecture. The platform was developed specifically for high-performance EVs, allowing AMG to focus on areas such as chassis rigidity, track durability and precise torque distribution.

The powertrain of the electric Mercedes-AMG E-Class remains unknown as of now, but early reports suggest a multi-motor setup using compact axial-flux electric motors would be offered. If those reports prove accurate, combined output could land somewhere between 800 and 900 hp.
