BYD has officially teased its upcoming Yangwang Altior, a flagship luxury sedan aimed at established names such as the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The model, previously known by its codename “HU”, will make its public debut in Dubai on November 5.
The name Altior was confirmed by Hu Xiaoqing, general manager of Yangwang’s sales division. Derived from Latin, it means “higher”, which we’d say is an appropriate choice for a car positioned at the top of BYD’s sedan lineup.
The Altior is expected to measure around 5,500 mm in length, with a substantial 3,350 mm wheelbase. That makes it roughly 100 mm longer than the standard Rolls-Royce Ghost, underlining its focus on rear-seat space and limousine-like proportions.

The sedan is expected to carry a price tag of around 2 million yuan, equivalent to approximately $300,000. However, BYD has yet to confirm its final pricing, powertrain, battery technology or full specifications.

More details should emerge at its Dubai debut, where the Altior will offer a clearer picture of how seriously BYD intends to challenge the big names in the industry.
