The Toyota GR GT is not even out yet, and all US-bound units have already been sold out.
Toyota is said to have allotted 200-250 units for the American market, and this initial batch of cars has been pre-assigned to known GR customers.

Apparently, this is part of a strategy to shut out speculators. “We are not going to have enough to meet demand, and that is by design,” Andrew Gilleland, Senior VP at Toyota Motor North America, said. He added that the brand does not want to sell cars to flippers and is prioritising people known to drive their cars.
The Toyota GR GT made its US debut at Monterey Car Week. Over 150 customers are said to have expressed interest in purchasing the car at The Quail alone. There are even reports of people lobbying Gilleland to secure a slot.

The GR GT is being positioned as Toyota’s next halo supercar. It will be powered by a front-mounted 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine paired with a single electric motor. It produces 640 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque and is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
