Jaguar Type 01 will officially break cover in October. This has been confirmed by JLR chief commercial officer Leonard Hoornik at the company’s investor day, held on June 17.
It has also been announced that the official reveal of the Jaguar Type 01 will happen in New York. This tells us how important the American market is for Jaguar’s upcoming EV.
The British brand officially named its 1000 hp electric GT just last month – Jaguar Type 01. And it has not picked up this name at random. It has 3 significant elements.
The “Type” prefix points to the legendary cars of the past, such as the D-Type, E-Type, and F-Type. The “0” represents the zero-emissions powertrain of the car. And the “1” means the first model belonging to the brand’s new era.
The Jaguar Type 01 was also spotted in Monaco during the F1 race weekend in May 2026. Wrapped in a striking red-and-black disguise, it was doing rounds of the challenging street circuit.
What we know about the Type 01 electric grand tourer so far, in context to the specs, is that it will have a tri-motor setup pushing out over 1000 hp and more than 959 lb ft of torque. The EV will feature a 120 kWh battery pack that will offer a range of over 400 miles. More details are expected to be announced at its official reveal in October.
