The Bugatti factory in Molsheim, France, recently rolled out the final Bolide #40, marking the end of production of the wildest track hypercar money can buy today.
The Bugatti Bolide was envisioned to redefine the limits of performance. The journey of the Bolide began in August 2021. The challenge was to translate the Bolide ‘What If’ concept into a production car, ensuring every technical aspect met the brand’s standards.
The design of the Bolide was finalised in 2022, and the engineering was completed in early 2023. Andy Wallace took the prototype out on track at Le Mans the same year and clocked over 200 mph on the straight.
The spec on the final Bolide was inspired by the client’s own Type 35. The car is finished in ‘Black Blue’ and ‘Special Blue Layonnais’, with ‘Lake Blue’ Alcantara on the interior. The same vibrant shade of blue was used on his Veyron Grand Sport.
The Bugatti Bolide is based on a bespoke carbon fibre chassis that has been developed to comply with LMh and LMDh regulations and meets all safety norms laid down by the FIA. Powering the Bolide is an 8.0-liter W16 engine that generates 1825 hp and 1475 lb-ft of torque. The car weighs just 1450 kg (dry), which gives it a power-to-weight ratio of more than 1100 hp per tonne.
