A Ford Mustang sedan might sound like a fantasy at first, but the idea is gaining serious traction. While we already have a four-door all-electric Mach-E, fresh comments from Ford leadership suggest an ICE version could be on the horizon.
Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue and Model e, recently hinted at expanding the Mustang family while discussing the shrinking sedan market. “It used to be 50 percent, now it’s 16, 17 percent.” Still, Ford clearly sees an opportunity, and the Mustang nameplate might be the perfect vehicle to explore it.

This isn’t entirely out of the blue. Back in 2024, Ford reportedly previewed a four-door coupe to dealers, alongside an off-road-focused Mustang variant. Then came the “Mach 4” trademark.
“I think, for us to do [a sedan], it’s going to have to make sense within our portfolio,” Frick said. He continued, “And it’s going to have to be very cost-effective for us to do it.”
This suggests that if the Mustang sedan does make it into production, it’ll borrow heavily from the current Mustang. That means familiar powertrains, including the 2.3-litre EcoBoost and, more excitingly, the 5.0-litre Coyote V8 pushing well over 480 hp.
The real question is whether Ford keeps the manual alive in this new format or not.
