The Xiaomi YU7 GT has just set a new lap record at Nurburgring and has become the fastest SUV to go around the Green Hell. And while doing so, it achieved a top speed of 185 mph.
The onboard video of Xiaomi YU7 GT’s record lap shows us how the driver handled and manoeuvred the dangerous circuit. Undoubtedly, his and the vehicle’s commendable performance resulted in them completing the lap in 7 min 34.93 seconds. For reference, the Audi RS Q8, one of the best ICE performance SUVs out there, has done it in 7 min 36.69 seconds.
In this onboard footage, we can see the Xiaomi YU7 GT crossing the 124 mph mark multiple times. The top speed that the electric SUV achieved on its phenomenal record-setting lap was 185 mph, which is blistering fast, and just shy of its claimed top speed (186 mph).
And that capability comes from YU7 GT’s dual electric motors, which produce 990 hp. Xiaomi also tweaked the EV for this stint by fitting a full roll cage for added safety. Also, the rear seats were removed to shed some weight.
