VIDEO: McLaren Artura’s Hybrid V6 engine sounds meaty

Two new supercars are set to make their debut next week. The Porsche 911 GT3 will be revealed on February 16 and a day later, the McLaren Artura – the brand’s first series production hybrid supercar.

The Artura will be powered by a turbocharged V6 engine and an electric motor. According to McLaren, the new hybrid powertrain offers all the benefits of the larger V8 engine and has better torque response at low engine speeds. This short video clip of the Artura prototype got us excited. The engine sounds quite meaty, almost like a V8.

The McLaren Artura is based on a new carbon fiber chassis called McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA). The new supercar looks like a modified 600LT. Except that it has conventional exhausts that are positioned on the rear fascia. Speaking of which, the rear of the car looks almost like the Elva speedster. It appears to feature a new headlamp graphic that gives it a slightly aggressive persona.
