Track-focused Mazda MX-5 Miata RS greenlit for production
Japanese automaker Mazda, showcased two new concepts at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon – Spirit Racing 3 based on the Mazda3 and the Spirit Racing RS based on the MX-5 Miata. Now, according to the latest reports, the carmaker has approved both cars for production.
The Mazda MX-5 Miata RS will get a tweaked suspension setup derived from the brand’s extensive racing experience. This should sharpen the handling, making it an ideal track toy. The 3 receives similar mechanical upgrades, including a bigger exhaust and Brembo brakes.
On the outside, the Miata RS features a prominent front splitter, side skirts, and rides on Rays wheels finished in black. Inside, you get Recaro seats with racing harnesses and a steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara.
