Alpine has showcased the most extreme iteration of the A110 sports car. The Alpine A110 R is said to be the ultimate expression of lightness and performance.

Extensive use of carbon fibre has enabled Alpine to reduce the overall weight of the A110 R down to 1082 kg. That’s 34 kgs less than the A110 S. The car comes with a carbon bonnet, single-shell carbon fibre seats with 6-point harnesses and even a rear clam shell made from lightweight carbon fibre. Also unique to this model are the 18-inch carbon fibre wheels.

The A110 R is powered by the same 1.8-litre, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine as the A110 S. It produces 300 hp @ 6300 rpm and 251 lb-ft @ 2400-6000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that enables the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds. Top speed is rated at 177 mph.

Alpine has also made some changes to the chassis for sharper track performance. The car has been lowered by 10 mm, and with the adjustable shock absorbers, it can be lowered by another 10 mm. It also features stiffer antiroll bars and springs, among other changes.

Taking things a step further, the A110 R comes fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 semi-slick tires. It also gets larger Brembo brake discs and specially designed vents to cool them during heavy use. The standard sports exhaust system further adds to the driving experience.
