Porsche has expanded its safety recall involving defective centre-lock wheel components affecting several high-performance 911 and 718 models from the 2024 model year, adding another 548 vehicles to the campaign. Owners of the newly affected cars have been issued a “Do Not Drive” warning, making this a serious issue for the German sports car maker.
According to NHTSA, the recall covers models including the 911 GT3, GT3 RS, Turbo, Turbo S, S/T and Carrera GTS, along with the 718 Cayman GT4 RS and 718 Spyder RS.

The original recall was announced in October 2024 and covered 2,251 vehicles. However, two further reports of fractured centre-lock components, received in May and August this year, prompted Porsche to investigate again.
The investigation found that the original process for identifying defective parts had missed some potentially affected components. More cars may have received parts made from the same out-of-specification material batch.
Porsche will contact owners by phone, email and through the My Porsche app, advising them not to drive their vehicles. Dealers will inspect the centre-lock wheel fastening systems and replace defective components free of charge.
Until the checks are completed, owners should follow the Do Not Drive instruction.
