Motor Trend just put the new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat on a dyno and the results are astonishing. Dodge rates the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 to produce 707 hp and 650 lb-ft, so anything near of under the 700 hp mark would be considered alright for a car that costs $60,000.

Having hooked the car to K&N’s dyno, the result sheet read 635 hp and 591 lb-ft. Clearly, that is nowhere close to the claimed figure. However, factor in the drivetrain losses and after scribbling some numbers the actual horsepower numbers at the crank can be calculated. When I said that the Challenger SRT Hellcat dyno results were astonishing and actually meant the following. Although Dodge claims a modest output of 707 hp, the most powerful muscle car in America actually has 722 hp and 672 lb-ft from its supercharged V8 engine.

Being on a rolling road, the team could also max the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat to its top speed. It did 225 mph but that would certainly drop in the real world since, aerodynamic drag was not an issue here. Still, the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is simply ballistic!
