Mercedes-Benz has unveiled to the world their latest high performance sports car. It is called the Mercedes AMG GT and it replaces the mighty SLS AMG. The new model has been in the news since the last few weeks as Mercedes-Benz commenced a teaser campaign ahead of the official launch.

The Mercedes AMG GT is two door sports coupe with a sublime exterior design incorporating the signature long hood and coupe like profile. The front is low slung with wide air intakes and expressive headlamps. The rear almost looks like the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe- those slender tail lamps with LEDs.

The interior of the car is exquisitely crafted with lots of leather and shiny metal surfaces. The dashboard sports four round air vents in the center, a-la the new S-Class but has been done in a more sportier theme.

The new Mercedes AMG GT is powered by a 4-liter V8 engine with twin-turbochargers, unlike the old SLS AMG that used a naturally aspirated AMG V8. The engine is mounted behind the front axle for better weight distribution and churns out 456 bhp and 443 lb-ft of torque. Top speed is 189 mph and 0-60 mph is over in just 3.9 sec. The other more powerful Mercedes AMG GT S gets 503 bhp V8 engine and 479 lb-ft of torque.

This new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG replacement will rival the likes of the Porsche 911 Turbo, Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, etc. Mercedes-Benz will be announcing the official pricing during the official launch of the car at the Paris Motor Show later in the year.
