Lotus has launched the Emeya 900 Gold EV in China. With a starting price of around 918,000 yuan ($135,000), the electric four-door packs more than 900 hp and is equipped with a host of hardware.

Power comes from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system using an 800V architecture. The setup produces 918 hp and 985 Nm (726 lb ft) of torque, allowing the Emeya 900 Gold to accelerate from 0-100 kmph (0-62 mph) in just 2.78 seconds. Top speed is rated at 256 kmph (160 mph).

Lotus has also focused heavily on aerodynamics. The car features an active grille, floating double-layer rear wing, active dampers and an active rear diffuser, with the systems adjusting according to speed and driving mode.

There is plenty of lightweight material underneath too, with nearly 62 carbon-fibre components used across the car.

It has already proved its pace, setting a production EV lap record at Sepang with a 2:20.317 time.
