Jenson Button’s McLaren P1 Up For Sale
A couple of days ago, 2009 F1 World Champion Jenson Button took to Instagram to announce that he is parting ways with his McLaren P1. Since then, Button’s P1 has been listed for sale with Steve Hurn Cars at a cool £1.6 million ($2.1 million). Considering the spec and options on this car and comparing it to the average price of the P1 on the market, this really sounds like a bargain to us.
Button’s P1 is specced with a McLaren Special Operations Grauschwartz Grey paint scheme as well as the optional Stealth Pack and an MSO grey/black alcantara interior. Alongside the grey theme, Button’s P1 features yellow brake calipers and yellow stitching inside for a great contrast. These options combined with the forged black wheels make up for a very stealthy look.
Other options include carbon fiber door mirrors, TPMS, Alcantara dashboard, door inserts and sun visors, Meridian sound system, vehicle tracking system, and parking sensors.
However, the most interesting part of the whole package is the MSO Track mode 2. It is the “road-legal” version of the P1’s extreme race mode and this is the first time we have heard of this option being offered on the P1. This bespoke software option is offered by MSO for no less than £20,000 ($26,000).
“I’ve decided to put my McLaren P1 up for sale so that someone else can enjoy her. It’s a tough decision but living in America I don’t really get the chance to drive this beauty. I did give her a final blast up to Silverstone for WEC last month though!” Button said in an Instagram post.
In light of this news, here is a video of Jenson driving his P1 around Monaco three years ago.
