De Tomaso P72 hypercar production to begin in H2 of 2024
The De Tomaso P72 hypercar is finally going into production. The automaker recently announced that production will commence in the second half of 2024.
“It is with great pleasure that we are officially announcing the long-awaited commencement of the De Tomaso P72 production in the 2H of 2024,” the statement read.
The P72 is based on the wild Apollo Intensa Emozione. However, it uses a 5.0-liter supercarged Coyote V8 instead of a mid-mounted V12. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
De Tomaso had initially planned to build 72 units, with a starting price of $820,000.
In 2022, the automaker showcased the P900 track car. It’s a more aggressive version of the P72, which weighs just 900 kg. It is powered by a naturally aspirated V12 engine that revs to 12,300 rpm and makes 900 hp.
