At first glance, this crash looks unsurvivable. The wrecked Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6) is almost unrecognisable, with a guardrail tearing straight through the cabin, right where the driver’s head should have been. And yet, incredibly, the driver climbed out of the car without any assistance.
The accident took place along New York’s Taconic State Parkway. According to reports, 22-year-old Mamadou Camara lost control of the 505 hp rear-wheel-drive Corvette Z06 in poor weather. The car ended up wedged beneath a centre median guardrail.

Conditions were far from ideal. Heavy rain had left standing water across the roadway, creating the perfect setup for hydroplaning. In a high-powered car like the Z06, things can go wrong very quickly. What’s truly remarkable, however, is what happened next.
Despite the catastrophic damage, the driver managed to climb out of the car on his own. He was later taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
