Porsche Mission S Concept unveiled: A successor to the 918 Spyder

Porsche has unveiled a new mid-engine supercar concept—the Mission S. It previews a future flagship model that is being touted as the spiritual successor to the 918 Spyder.

The Porsche Mission S concept is based on an all-new mid-engined super sports car platform positioned above the 911. The carmaker has revealed the technical details, but reports suggest that it could use a brand-new flat-8 engine.

In terms of its design, the Mission S borrows cues from historic Porsche models like the 550 Spyder from 1953. The front end is unmistakably Porsche with its low, protruding nose section and circular headlamps.

It has wide fenders with vents on the sides and Porsche’s signature side window graphic. The rear fascia has a layered design, featuring slim LED taillights. It has an integrated spoiler and quad exhausts, arranged vertically in stacks of two. One of the design highlights, though, is the engine cover with its top-mounted fan, similar to the Porsche 917.

For now, the Mission S is only a concept, and Porsche hasn’t shared any timeline for the production version.
