Bugatti Chiron clocks 227 MPH over a Standing Mile

Earlier this month, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ became the first production car to cross the 300 mph barrier. Inspired by this feat, the folks at Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds decided to test the Chiron’s acceleration over a standing mile.

The Bugatti Chiron is one of the fastest road legal cars money can buy. While the Chiron Super Sport 300+ topped out at a blistering 304.77 mph, the regular Chiron is no slouch either. It registered a speed of 227 mph over a standing mile.

The stock Chiron is powered by an 8.0-liter W16 engine that pumps out 1500 hp and 1180 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. As you might be aware, 227 mph is nowhere near its top speed. Bugatti claims it will do 263 mph, or at least, that’s when the electronic limiter will cut the power. Moreover, Top Gear recently demonstrated that the stock Chiron will indeed do 263 mph.
