A prototype of the BMW Speedtop has been spotted testing at Nurburgring. Although under heavy camouflage, it gives out various details about the upcoming BMW M8-based luxury wagon.

The design remains gloriously intact to the concept that was unveiled at the 2025 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. From the aggressive shark-nose front to the central spine flowing across the body, and that beautifully tapering roofline, it’s all there. Even the intricate winglet-style hidden door handles have survived the transition.

Under the hood of the BMW Speedtop is likely to be the same 4.4L twin-turbo V8 that we’ve seen making the competition nervous in the BMW M8. Although there’s no official confirmation yet, expected output figures are 617 hp and 553 lb ft, which would be put to use via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Word is that BMW will make only 70 units of the Speedtop worldwide. And each piece would be priced at $500,000. Its production is said to commence by the end of this year, and deliveries are expected in 2027.
