BMW M boss, Franciscus van Meel, posted a picture on his social media. The image teases an M Hybrid V8-inspired road-legal car.

Franciscus wrote, “Double victory at the WEC 6 Hours of Spa. The BMW M Hybrid V8 featuring M Yellow lights as part of our racing DNA. Let’s bring them to the streets. Stay tuned for more!”

It’s a subtle teaser, but what matters is the light signature. And it’s not just for show. The image also says “Born on the racetrack” on the top and “Made for the streets” at the bottom, written inverted.

The image reveals a sharp, vertical headlight setup with unmistakable yellow LED elements, a direct nod to the BMW M Hybrid V8 endurance racer. It’s a small detail, yet it carries serious intent. Yellow lighting has long been tied to BMW’s motorsport heritage, and now it looks ready to break into mainstream M road cars.

At present, this signature is limited to hardcore variants like CS and CSL models. But this teaser suggests a broader rollout. The design language itself feels familiar, very close to the upcoming Neue Klasse-inspired cars like the next-gen i3, iX3, and even future 3 Series prototypes.

Many believe this could preview the next BMW M3. The bigger question, however, remains unanswered: what powers it?
