According to our sources, Ford could be planning to unveil a “new variant” of the Ford GT on August 16, 2020.

Now, what this so-called new variant would be is still a mystery. Our guess is that it might be a special edition like the ones presented at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show. The Ford GT Liquid Carbon came with an exposed carbon fiber exterior, while the Heritage Edition got a blue and orange livery commemorating the GT40 chassis no. 1075’s Le Mans victory.

These are not the only special GTs we’ve seen so far. In 2019, Ford debuted the GT Mk II track car. It is actually quicker than a GTE-spec Le Mans racer it draws inspiration from. It is powered by a 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 700 hp. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The car has sits low to the ground and the aero package generates 400% more downforce than the standard car.

Just come to think of it, how about a street legal version of the Ford GT Mk II? That sounds exciting.
