Everything is bigger in Texas, and apparently that includes police SUVs. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has announced that a Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat will be joining its North Texas Region fleet.
The department shared the news on Facebook with the caption, “All that horsepower. One mission: Public Safety.” While it hasn’t revealed exactly how the SUV will be deployed, the choice of vehicle is certainly interesting.

Under the bonnet sits a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 producing 710 hp. The Durango SRT Hellcat can reach a claimed top speed of 180 mph, making it one seriously quick machine for a police fleet.
The law enforcement version also gets a substantial bull bar at the front, with emergency lights mounted around the grille and near the front of the vehicle. Additional lights sit along the top of the windscreen.
