BMW has raised concerns over the aggressive pricing of Chinese cars in Europe, with CEO Milan Nedeljković arguing that some vehicles are being offered at prices that simply don’t make business sense.

“Some Chinese cars are being offered here at prices that make no business sense,” Nedeljković said, warning that such pricing could distort competition and encourage protectionist measures in Europe.

Interestingly, BMW isn’t calling for higher trade barriers. Nedeljković stressed that the German automaker supports free trade and welcomes competition, but believes it must take place on fair terms.

He instead supports political discussions between Europe and China aimed at establishing market-based pricing through voluntary agreements.

According to Nedeljković, such an arrangement would be preferable to imposing additional tariffs on Chinese imports.
