Bentley is slowly revealing details of the upcoming Torcal EV, and its latest teaser focuses on an unusual luxury material. The new model will feature an interior made partly from 100% Merino wool, a material not previously used in automotive applications because of concerns over durability.
To make it suitable for a luxury vehicle, Bentley teamed up with British textile specialist Fox Brothers to develop a bespoke automotive fabric. The company describes it as the world’s first 100% Merino wool automotive fabric capable of meeting the demands of a luxury car. It is also the first automotive wool fabric to receive 100% certification under the Responsible Wool Standard.

The wool upholstery will be available in six carefully selected colourways, with each combining different shades from the same colour family for a layered appearance.
The Torcal will also introduce a new Ombre Veneer. Made using sustainably sourced walnut off-cuts and recycled paper, the material is formed from up to 1,000 individually selected layers. These are pressed together before being sliced into pieces less than a millimetre thick.
Another option comes from Mulliner in the form of Sunburst Aluminium. Inspired by classic engine-turned aluminium dashboards, it gives the Torcal another link to Bentley’s heritage while keeping the cabin distinctly modern.
