Ferrari has started testing an updated version of its 499P Le Mans hypercar. The next evolution of the top-tier endurance race car will make its debut next year.
The 2027 Ferrari 499P Evo was recently spotted testing at Monza. Scuderia Ferrari drivers Antonio Fuoco, Antonio Giovinazzi, Alessandro Pier Guidi and Miguel Molina shared driving duties on that day.
Looking at these images, it’s clear that Ferrari aerodynamisists have been busy working on the car in the wind tunnel over the last few months. The entire bodywork appears to have been tweaked. We can see a new pair of nostrils and a reworked splitter at the front.
A lot has changed on the rear of the car as well. The rear wing has been reworked and now features double vertical vanes on its extremities. The LED light has also been deleted.
Another major difference between the current 499P and the updated version is the diffuser. The current version has an inverted U-shaped design with a central spine, whereas the new car has two distinct U-shaped channels.
Ford is returning to the top class of endurance racing next year in the LMDh category. The car will be based on an Oreca chassis and will be powered by a 5.4-liter V8 engine paired with a hybrid system.
