1,000 HP Corvette ZR1 by Hennessey takes C7 Quarter Mile Record
A Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with HPE1000 pack covered a quarter mile in 9.52 seconds at 144.81 mph. The Hennessey beast packed 1,000 hp of power, 966 lb-ft of torque and is the quickest C7 ZR1 on the planet.
The folks at Hennessey Performance spent the month of April effectively and had fun while doing it. They took out a C7 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 empowered with the might of their HPE1000 package to the Houston Raceway Park and broke a quarter mile record.
It comes as no surprise that the Hennessey HPE1000 clinched the C7 record of covering a quarter mile in 9.52 seconds at 144.81 mph. The tuning house had made enough modifications to encourage the C7 ZR1 motor to churn out 1,000 hp of power and 966 lb-ft of torque. That’s a clear 245 hp advantage over the stock ZR1’s 6.2-liter V8. Because of the boost in power and the additional tweaks, the HPE1000 ZR1 can do 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds.
Want to hear of components which made the magic spell work? Here you go. A new high-flow induction system, ported cylinder heads, new intake valves, upgraded valve springs and retainers, custom camshaft, new exhaust valves, an upgraded lower pulley, revised lifters and pushrods, stainless steel headers and stainless steel midpipes, a tuned ECU, high-flow catalytic converters, and an upgraded transmission.
The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 HPE1000 hit the strip with a full tank of Shell V-Power Nitro+ 93 octane gasoline and shod with Nitto 315/30/20 drag radials.
If you think this is the best that Hennessey can do to the Corvette ZR1, then do note that the HPE1000 is just the teaser to something much bigger and meaner – an HPE1200 pack. That’s a 1,200 hp, 1,066 lb-ft offering which is basically a nuclear plant on wheels. We are waiting for that car to be unleashed on the drag strip.
