The World’s Fastest Tractor: A detailed tour of the 1000 HP JCB Fastrac Two
This tractor will plough your field at over 150 mph!
Last month, JCB set a new speed record for the world’s fastest tractor. The JCB Fastrac Two is a heavily modified piece of farming equipment that can do 153.771 mph!
Recently, Autocar got a chance to delve deeper into this yellow monster. So, here are the headlines –
The JCB Fastrac Two is powered by a 7.2-liter, 6-cylinder diesel engine that has a 3400 rpm redline. It has a massive turbocharger and an equally large intercooler that uses 25 kg of ice to cool the air from the turbine. The result is 1016 hp and 1340 lb-ft of torque.
Unlike a regular tractor, which has all-wheel drive and reduction gears on the axles, this beast is rear-wheel drive. Power is sent through a ZF 6-speed manual transmission. Now, the clutch used in this thing is an 8-plate unit that was developed by JCB in the late 80s.
